F.A.Q

What is a small wind turbine?

It is a wind turbine with a power of 1-25 KW particularly suitable for power generation for small businesses, local governments, farmers and individuals. These wind turbines allow for production of green energy that can cover all or parts of the energy needs of the sites.

How does one calculate the energy produced by a small wind turbine?

The energy produced is calculated in kW h. That is to say, the nominal output power multiplied by the number of hours of production. For example, a 10 KW wind turbine working 1000 hours per year will produce 10,000 kW h over that period.

What is the size of a small wind turbine?

They come in all sizes, with sizes of blades from 1 to 10 m and heights of masts from 8 to 30 meters. However wind turbines integrated into urban and periurban areas are generally equipped with blades from 1 to 3 m and a mast not exceeding 12 feet high so they do not depend on obtaining a building permit for their installation.

Where can a small wind turbine be installed?

There is no constraint except for the wind potential of your project. Contact us and meet our eco-advisors to benefit from our expertise in location analysis on your site.

Is a building permit required to install a small wind turbine?

No, the city code (article R421-2 paragraph c) provides that a building permit is required for a mast height of 12 meters and more (the blades and the generator do not fit into the calculation). The vast majority of small wind turbines are installed at 11m.Légifrance Link

Are there any grants or aid for installing a small wind turbine?

Just as with other renewable energy, wind turbines receive aid from the state, local or public organizations. Team WINDEO, when analyzing your wind project, validates and negotiates the availability of grants or subsidies, which are deducted from the cost of the equipment or the cost of installation. For more information, contact us..

Am I entitled to a tax credit as an individual?

Yes, it is provided by the Finance Act. It consists of a tax credit for installing a wind turbine for a principal residence if the installation is performed by a professional. The tax credit covers 50% of the wind turbine cost, peaking at 8000 € for a couple (plus 200 € per child).

I am interested in an installation, how long will it take?

WINDEO will take care of your wind project from A to Z and agrees to install your wind turbine in less than 3 months. Our outreach teams will handle the whole process of installation and training for the success of your wind turbine project. A dedicated project manager will be your contact and will guide you through the entire process.
